REACh
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals is a European Union regulation dating from 18 December 2006. REACH addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment. REACH is the EU's basic chemicals legislation, which aims to ensure that chemicals are used safely, with minimal risk to health and the environment.
The regulation covers most consumer products, requiring companies to report on chemicals used throughout the supply chain and in their products. REACH is broad in scope and affects the whole supply chain including companies based outside the EU. Compliance with REACH requires strategic planning as it asks industries to account for compliance throughout the supply chain.

The REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical Substances) Regulation aims to ensure that the more than 100,000 different types of chemicals used in the EU are documented in terms of safety for humans and the environment. The regulation includes all chemicals produced, imported or used in an amount of min. 1 ton annually by a company in an EU Member State. For a number of the most hazardous chemicals to health and the environment, companies are required to use a less hazardous chemical if possible.
RoHS and Calafornia Proposition 65
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances):
RoHS is a European directive that restricts the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The six hazardous substances covered by RoHS include lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). The goal of RoHS is to protect the environment and human health by reducing equipment exposure to these harmful substances.
California Proposition 65:
Proposition 65 aims to protect drinking water sources from toxic substances that can cause cancer and birth defects. If a consumer product contains chemicals or substances listed by the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, there must be a warning label about these chemicals. Proposition 65 applies specifically to California and requires advance warnings about exposure to hazardous substances in products.
