Kardex Shuttle XP 500 Vertical Lift Module

As part of a larger storage optimisation and our ongoing automation process, BJ-Gear A/S has invested in several Kardex Shuttle XP 500 Vertical Lift Modules from Kardex Remstar.

Our ambition is increased efficiency and automation
The investment is part of BJ-Gear's ambition to increase our productivity and quality through automation and optimisation.

The majority of the components used in our product range is fitted into the lift modules. Kardex Shuttle XP has Optiflex built-in height optimisation, that is a system that gives shelves in the lift towers floating locations. Optiflex built-in height optimization means that there is room for 20% more goods than in traditional vertical lift modules. The lift module can automatically perform counting and it will give notice if there is indication of low component inventory. Therefore, the content in the lift module will always be filled up and updated.

Also picking errors will be reduced because the lift modules via scanning allow you to verify if your pick is correct.

Another advantage of the investment is that ergonomics and working environment are improved for our employees. Since picking from the lifting modules always takes place at a good working height as opposed to choosing from traditional shelves, where you can easily make unsuitable lifts and stretches to get to the items you want to choose.

Releasing square meters to new opportunities
The investment has provided a reduction of 85-90% in the space volume of our stock - this means that we got about 200 additional square meters available.

The plans for the released square meters are to continue our automation plans, primarily of components in the assembly. But the released square meters are also needed to create more space around our assembly workstations, where we are working on optimising the workflow.
