Worm gearboxes with countless combinations

BJ-Gear A/S offers a very wide range of worm gearboxes. Due to the modular design the standard programme comprises countless combinations when it comes to selection of gear housings, mounting and connection options, flanges, shaft designs, type of oil, surface treatments etc.

Sturdy and reliable

The design of the BJ worm gearbox is simple and well proven. We only use high quality components such as houses in cast iron, aluminum and stainless steel, worms in case hardened and polished steel and worm wheels in high-grade bronze of special alloys ensuring the optimum wearability. The seals of the worm gearbox are provided with a dust lip which effectively resists dust and water. In addition, the gearboxes are greased for life with synthetic oil.

Large reduction 100:1 in one step

As default the worm gearboxes allow for reductions of up to 100:1 in one single step or 10.000:1 in a double reduction. An equivalent gearing with the same gear ratios and the same transferred power is bigger than a worm gearing. Meanwhile, the worm gearbox is in a more simple design.
A double reduction may be composed of 2 standard gearboxes or as a special gearbox.

Other product benefits of worm gearboxes in the BJ-Series:

Compact design

Compact design is one of the key words of the standard gearboxes of the BJ-Series. Further optimisation can be achieved by using adapted gearboxes or special gearboxes.

Low noise

Our worm gearboxes and actuators are extremely quiet. This is due to the very smooth running of the worm gear combined with the use of cast iron and high precision on component manufacturing and assembly. In connection with our precision gearboxes, we take extra care of any sound that can be interpreted as a murmur from the gear. So the general noise level of our gearbox is reduced to an absolute minimum.

Angle gearboxes

On the worm gearbox the input shaft and output shaft are perpendicular to each other. This often proves to be a decisive advantage making the incorporation of the gearbox considerably simpler and more compact.The worm gearbox is an angle gear. This is often an advantage for incorporation into constructions.

Strong bearings in solid housing

The output shaft of the BJ worm gearbox is very firmly embedded in the gear house and is ideal for direct suspension for wheels, movable arms and other parts rather than having to build a separate suspension.

Self locking

For larger gear ratios, BJ-Gear's worm gearboxes will provide a self-locking effect, which in many situations can be used as brake or as extra security. Also spindle gearboxes with a trapezoidal spindle are self-locking, making them ideal for a wide range of solutions.

The worm gearboxes of the 0 and P series are competitive products offered as a supplement to our own manufactured BJ series, adding even more broadness to our worm gearbox programme.
The worm gearboxes are modular designed and comprise countless combinations.
The housing is made of aluminum or cast iron and may be supplied with stainless steel hollow shafts.

The input side is provided with IEC motor flange or with a free input shaft.
The output side is supplied with a hollow shaft as standard, but it is of course possible to mount shafts from both sides as well.
The worm gearboxes can be supplied with a torque arm, flanges of different sizes or with feet to be fitted in 3 different positions. The many different gear ratios appear from the below table. If the ratio of one gearbox is not sufficient the gear ratio may be increased by fitting an additional worm gearbox or a helical gearbox.

The worm gearboxes are available in a center distance of 30 ”“ 110 mm and we are keeping in stock all sizes and gear ratios.
